Pearson Opens New Office in Downtown Columbia

Global learning company is lead tenant at Two Merriweather office building

Pearson, the world’s learning company, will officially call Columbia, MD, and the new office building at Two Merriweather, home on Thursday, December 7th at 10:00 a.m. at a grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony. The event brings together guests from across the community and Pearson offices around the world.

The office supports Pearson’s Online & Blended Learning K-12 group, which has its roots in Baltimore, Maryland as Connections Education. Founded in 2001 to provide online education to schools and school districts in the U.S. and abroad, it was acquired by Pearson in 2011.

In 2017, Pearson Online & Blended Learning K-12 serves over 400,000 students via full-time virtual schools and programs; offering students a personalized and flexible approach to their educations.

Mirroring the experience for students, the Two Merriweather office space offers Pearson employees a modern and fully flexible workspace designed for a staff that splits their time between working remotely and in the office. An open floor plan offers both seated and standing desk options, focus rooms for privacy, and floor-to-ceiling windows with views of Merriweather Post Pavilion. A “green building,” LEED certification is currently in progress.
